About

I’m an artist, illustrator and author of children’s books.
I live in the countryside, a short hop from a stunning beach in North East Scotland. It isn’t hard to find inspiration for stories here.

I love children’s books, particularly picture books. The marriage of pictures and words can be so beguiling when done well. Children’s books are an especially important gateway to lifelong learning for young readers in this modern diverse world. They can excite, spark questions and make children go, WOW! That’s why I love to write.

I’m fascinated by history and natural wonders and spend my days researching and scribbling next to our sassy sausage dog, Danni. I share a love of the stars with my daughter — on clear nights, we can often be found stargazing but I much prefer exploring Mother Earth in the sunshine.

My illustrations are often in a pencil or ink drawn style, with colour added in digital layers with painted textures.

I start with a sketchbook; developing roughs,

study sketches and generally scribbling.

Then I produce finished digital

colour illustrations in Procreate.

The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
